Sprocket:
Easily the best thing to immediately upgrade on this bike along with the carburetor. It stretches the gears out, increases top speed, and will make your engine whine less at higher speeds. This sprocket fits the stock chain (428 style), but you will have to move the adjusters complete forward to get it to fit. If your chain is already stretched out you will have less trouble fitting the sprocket:
Carburetor:
The stock carburetor is not adjustable from the factory. You can slice the screws, open it up, and possibly adjust the main jet, but you will have trouble finding pilot jets if you modify further. This carburetor comes ready to plug in and fits perfectly. They usually ship with a 108 main jet (which will be perfect for this bike, ours cranks without choke too), but you may want to purchase jets if you are anything other than a bone stock Magician. You need to remove the seat and tank to get to this carburetor as it is impossible to get out through the side.
Comfort Stuff:
A good set of grips and a seat cover will make this thumper bike pass less vibrations to your body, enabling you to ride a little longer. The protaper 7/8 grips fit but will leave about 1/4″ of space between the end of the inside of the grip and the throttle, shave your throttle tube a little if you want it to be closer to snug. Use E6000 adhesive (doesn’t take much) on the clutch side or it will rotate on you while riding.
Levers:
Stock levers suck. Upgrade to something nicer. Bars are 7/8″ so you can shop around. Here is a simple set we’ve used with luck:
Maintenance Stuff:
Only use wet oil with a wet clutch additive, I recommend Rotella T4 in all my Chinese bikes. A new spark plug can’t ever hurt, I’ve had good luck with the E3. Do yourself a favor and buy the oil at an autoparts store if you can find it, it’s overpriced on Amazon.
